Latest feature of Facebook - SocialEyes for Video Chatting

For those who wish there were yet another way to connect with friends on computer screens, a new start-up called SocialEyes now offers video chatting through Facebook. SocialEyes was founded by Rob Glaser and Rob Williams which provides a service that lets people have one-on-one or group video chats with friends from Facebook.

Facebook has about 500 million members who, on average, have about 150 friends each. SocialEyes sees a prime business opportunity to deliver live video chats and taped video messages to all these users. The video service is free, and is perfectly suited to handle a conversation of three to six people at once, though the program can accommodate up to nine people at once. Video meetings can be set up by secret group, open group and work group.

A test version of SocialEyes made its debut in California at a DEMO conference for technology startups and was made available online at socialeyes.com or apps.facebook.com/socialeyes. SocialEyes was described by some as a more civilized version of Chatroulette, which randomly connected users in vidchats in a service that became known as a stage for bawdy antics by strangers. Several services including Skype, Apple’s FaceTime and Google’s video chat in Gmail let people communicate via video. SocialEyes differs in that it offers a social element.

SocialEyes takes the social networking experience to the next level by enabling people to connect with their networks and meet interesting people who share common interests through face-to-face communication or via video messages.

How to Start Video Chatting?

Users can log in to SocialEyes using Facebook Connect. They see their Facebook friends and can begin chats with several of them at once, individually or in a group. If someone isn’t online, users can leave a video message.

Users can leave the windows open so the friends can see and hear one another even when they re not chatting. They can mute or pause certain conversations if they don t want their friend to see or hear them, but it can be a little creepy, especially if someone forgets that a chat is still going on.

SocialEyes can be accessed via mobile also as company is building a mobile app.

It completely changes the way we communicate with and meet new people. So what are you waiting for just start video chatting now and do share your experience.
